Product Add-ons

Add-ons are extra products or services — with their own price — that customers can tack onto an order at checkout. Think soft-close hinge upgrades, a finish sample, delivery-and-install, hardware kits, or a rush fee. They're a simple, honest way to raise the average order without cluttering your core products.

Availability: Commerce and up (paid plans).

Where add-ons live

There are two places to manage add-ons, and they share the same list:

PlaceUse it to
Product → Add-ons tabSee and add the add-ons that apply to this product, or jump to the central list
Settings → Products → Add-onsManage all your add-ons in one place — the master list every product draws from

An add-on you create is defined once, centrally, and then linked to wherever it should be offered. From a product's Add-ons tab, click Add Addon to create one already linked to that product, or Manage All to open the central Settings list.

Creating an add-on

Each add-on has:

FieldDescription
NameWhat the customer sees — e.g. "Soft-close upgrade," "White-glove delivery"
PriceThe add-on's price (required; can be 0 for a no-charge option)
Linked productsSpecific products this add-on is offered on
Linked categoriesA whole category — every product in it offers the add-on
Inventory TrackingOptional: track stock for this add-on — turning it on reveals a Current Stock Level field (see below)
Hide from customerKeep an add-on internal-only when needed

You can attach an add-on two ways, and you can use both at once:

  • To specific products — the add-on appears only on the products you pick.
  • To a whole category — the add-on appears on every product in that category. Add a new product to the category later, and it inherits the add-on automatically.

Tip: Use category links for shop-wide extras like delivery or a finish upgrade, and product links for accessories that only make sense on one item.

How add-ons appear at checkout

When a customer configures a product that has add-ons, the available extras are offered alongside it. Selected add-ons are added to the order with their price, and they carry through onto the order's documents — quotes, invoices and the rest — as their own priced lines, so both you and the customer see exactly what was added.

Add-ons with stock (inventory)

If an add-on is a physical item you keep on hand (say, a hardware kit), turn on Inventory Tracking and set a Current Stock Level. Then:

  • It shows up in your Inventory dashboard under a Product Addons group, alongside your other tracked stock.
  • It's flagged as low stock once its count drops below 10, so you get a heads-up before you run out.

Add-ons you don't mark as inventory items are treated as services or made-to-order and aren't tracked for stock.
