Settings Overview

Settings is the control room for your shop. It's where you set up your business identity, connect payments, shape how orders and documents look, build your catalog rules, and turn on the more advanced tools like the shop floor, CNC export, and the 3D Designer.

This page is a map. Settings live across several pages with groupings that aren't always obvious — measurement units are under Shop, the AI "Global Instructions" box is under Products, and your production stations are under Shop, not Orders. Use the table below to jump straight to what you need instead of hunting.

Navigation: open Settings from the left navigation. Personal settings (your own profile, password, and notifications) live under your profile icon → Account Settings — those are separate from the company-wide settings here.

Tip: Most Settings pages open as a two-pane screen — a list of sub-tabs on the left, and the content for the selected tab on the right. When this guide says "Settings → Orders → Storefront," it means: open the Orders settings page, then click the Storefront tab in that left list.

Note: Which pages you see depends on your plan. See Subscriptions & Plans for the full tier breakdown.

Start here (new shop checklist)

If you're setting up TimberCloud for the first time, work through these in order:

  1. Set your business identity. Go to Settings → Company → General and add your logo, contact details, billing address, and your locale/currency. This feeds every document you generate and your storefront.
  2. Decide about automated emails. New companies start with automated emails turned OFF, so nothing is sent to customers automatically until you flip the switch. Check Settings → Company → Notifications and turn it on when you're ready. Until then, you send each document manually from the order.
  3. Connect payments (paid plans). Go to Settings → Payments to connect Stripe. Watch the test-mode vs live-account warning — the two are separate accounts.
  4. Configure your orders. In Settings → Orders, set quote auto-approval, lead times, taxes, delivery methods, packaging, and payment terms, and tune how your quotes/invoices look.
  5. Build your catalog rules. In Settings → Products, set up categories, your reusable attribute library, and any add-ons.
  6. Set your storefront mode. In Settings → Storefront, choose Direct Order or Quote-Based selling and grab your embed code.

Tip: Two settings surprise people because they live somewhere unexpected. Measurement units (imperial/metric, fractions) are under Settings → Shop → General (a Production-tier page), not Orders. And the AI "Global Instructions" box is under Settings → Products → AI Settings (a Build-tier feature), not Company.
