Labels
Design product labels — with company info, order details, line-item fields, barcodes and QR codes — that print onto standard Avery label sheets. Labels are used for identifying parts on the floor, tracking orders, and organizing inventory.
Availability: Build plan and up. Labels are part of TimberCloud's advanced product features and are designed from the product's Production tab.
How labels work in TimberCloud
Labels are built in two stages, and it helps to know which is which:
- Label sizes come from Avery templates. You don't invent a label size from scratch on the product. Instead, your shop's label sizes are set up once in label settings (based on standard Avery templates — for example "Avery 5160"), which fix the physical width, height and how many print per sheet.
- You design the artwork per product. On each product, you pick one of those Avery sizes and lay out what prints inside it — company name, order number, dimensions, a QR code, and so on.
So the size is chosen from your configured templates; the content is what you design here.
Note: If a product has no label sizes assigned yet, the Labels area shows "No label layouts configured for this product." Set your Avery templates up in label settings first — see Shop Settings.
Opening the designer
- Open your product and go to the Production tab.
- Click Labels, then Open Designer.
- Pick the Avery label size you want to design (each is listed as Avery ‹name›).
Adding elements
The designer shows a live label canvas. Drag elements from the toolbox on the left onto the label. Elements stack and center exactly as they'll print — you arrange them by order, not by dragging them to arbitrary coordinates.

Add a barcode element and choose its type and what it encodes.
Barcode types

| QR Code | A 2D code you scan with a phone or scanner — can trigger an in-app action |
| Code 128 | A linear barcode for general-purpose scanning |
| Code 39 | A linear alphanumeric barcode |
What the code does
- QR codes can carry an action: View Order (opens the order) or Change Order Status (advances the order when scanned) — handy for shop-floor and QC stations.
- Code 128 / Code 39 encode scan content — text such as the order number, a line-item UUID, or a field value your equipment reads.
You can also choose whether to print the encoded text beneath a linear barcode.
Removing a label design
If you clear a label, its elements are removed but the Avery size stays available on the product — so you can start a fresh design on the same size without re-adding it. The template itself isn't deleted; only your artwork on it is.
Printing labels
From an order, open Documents / Print, choose Labels, pick the layout, and print or download the PDF. Because the size matches a real Avery sheet, the output lines up with your label stock.
Best practices
- Keep the essentials prominent — order number and dimensions are what floor staff scan for.
- Size text for scanning distance — bump the font on the key line.
- Leave room around barcodes — a clean quiet zone scans more reliably.
- Test print on your actual Avery stock before a production run.
