Self-Fulfillment: Packing Slips, Labels & Local Delivery

Plenty of orders never touch a carrier — you deliver them on your own truck, the customer picks them up, or you ship on your own account. TimberCloud has a lighter set of tools for exactly these: a packing slip and Avery-label generator on the order, and a Deliveries surface where you confirm local and pickup orders as delivered.

Availability: Included on Commerce and up (paid plans). See Subscriptions & Plans.

When to use these tools

Reach for self-fulfillment when the shipment isn't booked through Carrier Services:

  • Local / own-truck delivery — you drive it there yourself.
  • Customer pickup — the customer collects it from your shop.
  • Your own carrier account — you ship it, then track it with a pasted tracking number.

These orders don't need a booked label or a rate — they need paperwork and a way to mark them done.

Packing slips & Avery labels

Every order's Shipping tab includes a Packing Slip & Avery Labels generator — no carrier booking required.

  1. Open the order and go to the Shipping tab.
  2. In the Packing Slip & Avery Labels panel, choose:
    • Packing Slip — a printable packing-slip PDF listing the order's contents, to include in the box or hand to the driver.
    • Avery Labels — printable labels formatted for standard Avery label sheets.
  3. The document opens in a preview you can print or download.

Note: These are your own documents for self-shipped orders — they are not carrier shipping labels. A carrier label comes only from booking a shipment.

You can also generate a packing slip straight from the Deliveries list without opening each order.

Confirming local deliveries

Carrier and freight shipments complete on their own when tracking reports delivered. But orders you deliver yourself — local delivery, pickup, own-truck — have no carrier scan to wait on, so you confirm them by hand.

The Deliveries surface lists orders that are out for delivery and lets you mark them delivered, which stamps the delivery date and completes the order.

To confirm deliveries:

  1. Open the Shipping dashboard (the Shipping truck menu, or Shop → Shipping) and go to the Deliveries tab.
  2. Filter by shipping method or search by order, customer, or PO number.
  3. Select one or more orders using the row checkboxes.
  4. Click Mark as Delivered and confirm.

The selected orders move to Delivered in bulk and record the delivery date.

Tip: For self-service delivery options (like a named local-delivery method), an order counts as fulfilled the moment it's marked Shipped — there's no separate carrier "Delivered" scan to wait for. Carrier and freight orders, by contrast, only complete when tracking confirms delivery.
