AI Website Assistant

Your hosted website ships with a built-in AI writing peer. It can generate a complete branded starter site from your catalog, draft a brand-new page from a one-line description, rewrite and polish copy right inside the editor, and write the small-but-tedious things (SEO titles, FAQs, testimonials) on demand. Every suggestion lands as an editable draft you review and accept — nothing AI writes is published automatically.

The website AI runs on Claude (Anthropic's Claude Sonnet 4) and is included on every paid plan, with a generous monthly generation allowance that scales by tier. It is off on the Free plan (Free has no Site Builder website).

What the website AI can do

There are three places AI shows up in the website builder:

1. AI site generation — generate or regenerate a whole site from your catalog and business profile.
2. The in-editor writing assistant — slash commands, the Cmd/Ctrl+J selection menu, and Inspector Generate buttons that write/improve copy as you edit.
3. Draft a page from a prompt — describe a new page in plain English and get a fully designed draft.

All of them draw from the same monthly AI allowance and all of them route their output through an accept/reject review.

1. AI site generation

Automatic generation at signup

When you create your TimberCloud company on a paid plan, AI automatically reads your company profile and product catalog and writes a complete, image-rich home page so your hosted site looks intentional from day one. The starter home page includes:

• A hero banner (headline, subheadline, call-to-action) with a stock photo
• Value-prop cards (icon highlights of what you do)
• An About section
• A process / how-it-works band
• An image gallery
• Placeholder testimonials (clearly marked — see below)
• A closing CTA strip
• An FAQ
• SEO metadata (page title and description)

Because a brand-new company has nothing to lose, the signup home page is generated and published automatically.

What comes from your real catalog vs. what AI writes. The Featured products and Category grid blocks always pull from your actual catalog — AI doesn't invent products. The hero copy, value props, About text, process steps, FAQ, and SEO meta are AI-written from your profile and industry.

Automatic branding (only fills in what you haven't set). During generation the AI also picks a coordinated brand palette and font from a curated set of WCAG-checked options, and generates a simple text wordmark logo in those colors. This branding is applied only to fields you haven't already chosen yourself — your existing primary color, secondary color, font, and logo are never overwritten. (You can change any of these later under Settings → Website — see Domain, Theme & SEO.)

Industry-aware copy and photography. The AI tailors language to your industry (cabinetry, architectural millwork, custom furniture, finishing/refinishing, restoration, signage/CNC, and more) so the copy reads like it was written for your shop, not generic filler. Stock photos are fetched automatically to match.

Important: AI-generated testimonials are synthetic placeholders — they're clearly flagged for you to replace with real customer quotes. The AI is also constrained not to invent specific numbers, customer names, awards, certifications, or a location it can't confirm from your profile. Always review the generated copy before relying on it.

"Generate my site with AI" (existing customers with no pages)

If you joined before automatic generation, or you've deleted your pages and have none, the Website section shows a Generate my site with AI action. It produces the same rich starter home page — but lands it as a draft that you review and Publish yourself when you're happy with it.

To use it: open Website, and if you have no pages yet, click Generate my site with AI. Review the draft in the editor, then Publish to go live. (See Navigation & Publishing.)

"Regenerate from my catalog" (home page only)

Already have a home page but your catalog or business has changed? Open your home page in the editor and, in the right-hand Inspector, click Regenerate from my catalog. This:

1. Saves a revision first so your current page is safely snapshotted (you can always roll back — see revision history).
2. Generates fresh content without touching the live, published page.
3. Walks you through the proposed changes one section at a time, so you accept or reject each one.

Nothing is saved or published until you accept it, so you can safely refresh AI copy without losing your hand-edits.

2. The in-editor AI writing assistant

Inside the page editor, AI is always within reach. There are three entry points.

Slash AI (type /)

In any text block, type / to open the slash menu. The top AI group offers 10 actions:

Cmd/Ctrl+J on a selection

Select any text in the canvas and press Cmd/Ctrl+J to run those same AI actions on just the highlighted text. Great for tweaking a single sentence or paragraph without rewriting the whole block.

Inspector "Generate" buttons

The right-hand Inspector has one-click ✨ Generate buttons for the things you'd otherwise write by hand:

• SEO title — a concise page title (kept to ~60 characters).
• SEO description — a search-snippet description (~110–160 characters).
• Generate FAQ — drafts a set of frequently-asked questions and answers.
• Expand into an About section — turns a short blurb into a fuller About section (~200 words).
• Polish a real review into a testimonial — takes one of your real, approved customer reviews and rewrites it into a clean, quotable testimonial. (This reads an actual review on the server — it never invents praise.)

3. Draft a page with AI

When you create a new page, you can hand the first draft to AI instead of starting from a blank canvas:

1. In Website → Pages, click New page.
2. Choose the Draft with AI option.
3. Type a one-line description of the page (for example, "An About page covering our 20 years of custom cabinetry and our small-shop approach").
4. Submit.

AI returns a fully designed draft — hero, value props, prose sections, gallery, CTA, and FAQ — in the same rich layout as the generated starter site. The page is created as a draft for you to edit and publish.

The Draft with AI toggle is hidden on plans that can't use AI (i.e. Free). See Pages for the full page-creation flow.

The review: nothing publishes automatically

Every AI action — site generation, slash AI, Cmd/Ctrl+J, Inspector Generate, Draft with AI, and Regenerate from my catalog — produces an editable draft that you review through an accept/reject flow:

• Inline writing suggestions appear in an overlay where you Accept, discard, or run the action again.
• Regenerate from my catalog presents changes section by section so you accept or reject each one.
• Generated and drafted pages are created as drafts — they only go live when you Publish them.

In short: AI proposes, you dispose. Your live site never changes until you say so.

Note: Each successful generation counts against your monthly AI allowance — see below. Failed AI calls do not count.

Plan gating and your monthly AI allowance

The website AI assistant is a paid-plan feature. It is off on the Free plan (the AI surface is hidden entirely, since Free doesn't get the Site Builder website at all). On paid plans, AI generations share a single per-company monthly allowance that scales with your tier:

A few details worth knowing:

• The 14-day trial gets the Build-tier allowance (100 generations/month) — the trial is a full-feature demo, so website AI is not locked out during it.
• The allowance is a shared pool across all website AI actions (site generation, regenerate, slash AI, Cmd/Ctrl+J, Inspector Generate, and Draft with AI).
• Failed attempts don't burn your allowance — only successful generations count.
• When you've used about 80% of your monthly allowance, the editor shows a low-key heads-up.
• If you hit the limit, AI actions pause for the rest of the month with an upgrade prompt.
• The allowance resets at the start of each calendar month.

Privacy

Your website content is processed per request, for your company only, and is not used to train AI models. Tenants are isolated from one another.

A good AI workflow

1. Let AI lay the foundation. Use the auto-generated starter site (or Generate my site with AI) as your starting point instead of a blank page.
2. Replace the placeholders. Swap the synthetic testimonials for real customer quotes (or use Polish a real review into a testimonial), and double-check any AI copy for accuracy.
3. Edit with assists. Use slash AI and Cmd/Ctrl+J to tighten, shorten, or re-tone copy as you go.
4. Fill the gaps with one-click Generate. Add SEO titles/descriptions and an FAQ from the Inspector.
5. Add pages fast. Spin up new About/Services pages with Draft with AI, then refine.
6. Review and publish. Accept the changes you want, then Publish when you're ready. AI never publishes for you.
