Create a Company
After creating your TimberCloud account, the next step is to set up your company. Your company profile contains all the business information needed to run your storefront, process orders, and communicate with customers.
Note: Your company is the workspace for everything in TimberCloud — products, customers, orders, your website, and settings all live inside it. If you joined an existing company by invitation instead of starting your own, you can skip this page.
Before You Begin
Have the following information ready:
- Company name — Your official business name
- Contact email — Where order notifications will be sent
- Phone number — Business contact number
- Business address — Physical location for shipping calculations
- Logo (optional) — PNG or SVG, at least 200x200px recommended
Creating Your Company
Step 1: Access Company Creation
After logging in to your TimberCloud account at app.timbercloud.com:
- Navigate to your dashboard
- Click Create Company or look for the company setup prompt
- You'll be guided through the company creation form
Step 2: Enter Basic Information
Provide your core business details:
| Field | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Company Name | Yes | Your official business name as it will appear to customers |
| Yes | Primary email for order notifications and communications | |
| Phone | Yes | Business phone number for customer contact |
Step 3: Add Your Address
Your business address is used for:
- Shipping rate calculations
- Tax determination
- Invoice and document headers
- Customer communications
Enter your complete address including:
- Street address (line 1 and line 2 if needed)
- City
- State/Province
- ZIP/Postal code
- Country
Step 4: Upload Your Logo
Your logo appears on:
- Your storefront and hosted website
- Invoices and receipts
- Order confirmations
- Customer-facing documents
Logo recommendations:
- Format: PNG, JPG, or SVG
- Minimum size: 200x200 pixels
- Square or horizontal orientation works best
- Transparent background (PNG) recommended
You can skip this step and add a logo later in Settings. On paid plans, if you don't set a logo, TimberCloud's AI will generate a simple text wordmark in your brand colors when it builds your starter website — you can replace it anytime.
Step 5: Optional Business Details
Additional information you can provide:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Description | Brief overview of your business for your profile |
| Website | Your main website URL |
| Industry | Your business category (woodworking, cabinetry, custom furniture, etc.) |
| Company Size | Number of employees |
Tip: Filling in your Industry helps TimberCloud's AI tailor the copy, FAQs, and imagery on your auto-generated website to your line of work. See AI Website Assistant.
Your Company Slug
When you create your company, TimberCloud generates a unique slug based on your company name. This is a URL-friendly identifier used throughout the platform.
Example: If your company is "Oak Valley Woodworks", your slug might be oak-valley-woodworks
Your slug appears in:
- Admin dashboard:
app.timbercloud.com/oak-valley-woodworks - Embeddable storefront:
embed.timbercloud.com/oak-valley-woodworks - Hosted website:
embed.timbercloud.com/site/oak-valley-woodworks(or your connected custom domain) - Embed code:
data-company="oak-valley-woodworks"
The slug is automatically generated but can be customized if needed.
Accept Terms & Create
Before finalizing your company:
- Review the Terms of Service (opens in a new tab)
- Review the Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab)
- Check the box to accept the terms
- Click Create Company
Your company is now created and you can start configuring your storefront and website.
After Company Creation
Once your company is set up, you'll want to configure several areas. Where you start depends on your plan.
Free plan? Free companies run an inquiry-only storefront — prices are hidden, payments are off, and customers submit requests instead of paying. You can still add products and customers and accept inquiries right away. To turn on pricing, online payments, AI, and the hosted Site Builder website, upgrade to Commerce or higher. See The Free Plan and Subscriptions & Plans.
Immediate Next Steps
- Set up your location — Configure your primary shipping location with address and fulfillment options.
- Add products — Create your first products with attributes, options, and pricing. (See Creating a Product — you can also bulk-import a catalog with AI.)
- Connect payments — On a paid plan, connect Stripe so customers can pay at checkout. (See Payments.)
- Build your website — Launch your hosted, white-label website with the Site Builder (see below).
- Configure shipping — Set up packaging and delivery options. (See Shipping.)
Build Your Website
On paid plans (Commerce and up), TimberCloud gives you a full hosted, white-label website — not just the embeddable catalog — built with the Site Builder.
- It's already started for you. When you sign up on a paid plan, AI reads your company profile and catalog and automatically generates and publishes a branded starter home page (hero, value props, an About section, a process band, gallery, placeholder testimonials, a call-to-action, and an FAQ), and picks a coordinated color palette and font. The placeholder testimonials are clearly marked for you to replace with real ones.
- Make it yours. Open the dashboard's Website section to edit pages in the Notion-style editor, add pages, and publish. Your site goes live at
embed.timbercloud.com/site/your-slug. - Use your own domain. Connect a custom domain (with automatic SSL) under Settings → Website → Domain.

Storefront Settings
Configure how your storefront behaves under Settings → Orders → Storefront:
- Selling mode — Direct Order (immediate checkout, requires Stripe connected) or Quote-Based (customers request quotes you review).
- Price visibility — Show indicative prices on quote-based products, or hide them.
On the Free plan, payments are off and pricing is hidden, so the storefront is inquiry/quote-only.

Editing Company Information
After creation, you can update your company details anytime:
- Navigate to Settings → Company
- Click Edit next to the section you want to update
- Make your changes
- Click Save
All changes take effect immediately. For website-specific settings (theme, custom domain, analytics, SEO), use Settings → Website instead — see Domain, Theme & SEO.
Multiple Companies
Your TimberCloud account can be associated with multiple companies:
- Create additional companies — Run multiple businesses from one account
- Join existing companies — Accept invitations from other company owners
- Switch between companies — Use the company selector in the navigation
Each company has its own products, customers, orders, website, and settings.
Common Questions
Can I change my company name later?
Yes, you can update your company name in Settings → Company. Note that your slug may not automatically update — contact support if you need to change your slug.
What if I enter the wrong address?
You can update your address anytime in Settings → Company. Keep in mind that address changes may affect shipping rate calculations for new orders.
Do I get a website automatically?
On paid plans, yes — a branded starter website is auto-generated and published for you at signup. On the Free plan, the hosted Site Builder website isn't included; you get an inquiry-only embeddable storefront. See Subscriptions & Plans and The Free Plan.
Do I need a business license?
TimberCloud doesn't require a business license to create a company, but you're responsible for complying with local business regulations.
Can I delete my company?
Contact support@timbercloud.com to discuss company deletion. We recommend exporting your data first.
